What I Noticed When the Fear of Looking Silly Showed Up

I nearly didn't film this.

Not because skipping is difficult.

Because as soon as I thought about recording myself, a stream of thoughts appeared.

"What if I look silly?" "What if people in the gym are watching?" "What if someone laughs?" "What if I post it and people judge me?"

Then I started skipping…

and immediately messed up.

Three times.

The interesting part wasn't the mistakes.

It was noticing everything happening inside while I was making them.

The thoughts were there. The uncomfortable feelings were there. The urge to stop filming was there.

But once I noticed them, I didn't have to automatically follow them.

I could let them be there…

and keep skipping.

I'm starting to see this happens in more places than the gym.

Speaking up. Starting something new. Posting online. Having a difficult conversation. Taking a chance on something that matters.

The thoughts arrive. The feelings arrive.

And sometimes, right in the middle of them…

there's a small moment where they can be noticed.

Notice it… don't feed it.
