It’s okay to feel it. Just don’t feed the story.
One thing I’m understanding more deeply is that Notice it… don’t feed it does not mean avoiding difficult feelings.
It doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine.
It doesn’t mean pushing sadness away.
Sometimes life hurts.
Sometimes disappointment is there.
Sometimes there is a heaviness in the body.
Sometimes tears come.
What I’m starting to notice is that the feeling itself is often only part of what is happening.
Then the mind can add another layer.
I’ve failed.
I should be further ahead by now.
I should have handled things better.
What’s wrong with me?
And that extra layer can make an already painful moment much heavier.
I’ve had moments where I’ve felt deeply sad and simply allowed the sadness to be there.
I noticed it.
I felt it.
I didn’t try to force it away.
But I also tried not to keep adding more thoughts and stories around it.
That difference has felt powerful.
Because not feeding a feeling doesn’t mean not feeling it.
It can simply mean allowing the emotion to be there without continually building more around it.
The pain can be real.
The sadness can be real.
The tears can be real.
But the story doesn’t always have to keep growing.
Sometimes it may be enough to notice what is here, let it be felt, and not keep adding to it.
Notice it… don’t feed it.
